Garrett Williamson Returns for Fourth Season with Lightning

Thursday, September 21, 2017 (London, ONTARIO) – The London Lightning announced Thursday that the longest standing bolt, Garrett Williamson, will return to the club for the 2017-18 season.

"We are thrilled to have Garrett back. This will be his fourth season with the Lightning." said owner-gm Vito Frijia of his longest standing player. "You know, four out of seven isn't bad."

Williamson, a 6'5 guard from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, has dual citizenship so is classified as Canadian player in the NBL. He is one of the most athletic players in the league, able to play lock down defence on anyone while being fluid and unstoppable on offense. Over his three seasons in the league Williamson averages 16 points, five rebounds and four assists per game and will continue to climb in many places of the record books this season.

Williamson is happy to be back with the Lightning. "I love London. The fans, the guys, the ownership, everything here is top notch. There is nowhere else I would rather play, no other guys I would rather win another championship with."

New head coach, Keith Vassell, knows the value of Williamson resigning. "I am very excited that Garrett is here. He has really shown himself to be an impact player on both ends of the floor – both defensively and offensively. I am really excited to have him rejoin the team."
