Game Recap: Lightning Fall to Express

Game Recap: Lightning Fall to Express

The London Lightning and the Windsor Express added another exciting chapter to their NBL Canada rivalry Saturday night. Unfortunately for London, they came out on the losing end of a 108-91 showdown with their 401 rivals.

London came out of the gates strong, as Joel Friesen-Latty and Garrett Williamson stormed the team to a 24-19 first quarter, balancing Friesen-Latty's three pointers with Williamson's adventurous drives to the basket.

London continued their strong play until late into the second quarter, when Maurice Jones made some tough shots to give the Express an edge heading into the half. Windsor went to the locker rooms with a narrow 47-45 lead.

The Express caught fire in the third quarter, with Jones, Braylon Rayson and Shaq Keith making contested three after contested three. Windsor's hot shooting racked up 37 points in the quarter, with the Lightning looking for answers in the fourth quarter.

After the rigors of a long road trip, London struggled to find those answers. Marcus Capers kept London in the game as long as he could, but it wasn't enough as the Bolts fell to the Express by a score of 108-91.

Marcus Capers led the way for the Lightning, scoring 22 points, most of which came later in the game when London needed points. He also stuffed the stat sheet with 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Friesen-Latty added 17 points of his own to London's cause. Yohanny Dalembert grabbed 12 rebounds.

Maurice Jones led the way for Windsor with 28 points, and Braylon Rayson managed 24 points.

The Lightning are back in action Sunday December 17th, as the St. John's Edge make their first appearance in Budweiser Gardens. Tickets are available online or at the Budweiser Gardens box office.
