Lightning Extend Win Streak to Four

Lightning Extend Win Streak to Four

Friday, December 29, 2017 (London, ON) – The London Lightning played their best game of the season and beat the Windsor Express 129-109 to extend their win streak to four games.

Head coach, Keith Vassell, is happy with the chemistry the team has found, "That was probably one of our first games that the guys just played with confidence, there was that little extra swag to our game. We shot the ball fairly well but I think there was a certain bounce to their step tonight." The bolts filled the stats sheet as a team with 55 rebounds, 37 assists and shot 57% from the field, 41% from the three point line.

Doug Herring Jr. made his debut back with the bolts tonight and is happy to be back in London and ready to fill his role on the team. "Coach keeps stressing to play fast, the faster we play the more opportunities there are for everybody else. I just try to push the tempo and create opportunities for whoever it arises to."

The London Lightning had six players all score in double digits, with Ryan Anderson (14 points, 13 rebounds, nine assists), Marcus Capers (17 points, 10 rebounds, five assists) and Royce White (25 points, 11 assists, three rebounds) all recording double-doubles.

White, who played with a new face mask to protect a broken nose, feels like the team has finally clicked. "We definitely are hitting a rhythm now. Ryan is continuing to play well… Doug is a veteran guy, he knows the game, knows how to play. He really got us going in the first half, and then he kinda deferred to the rest of us in the second half…. He was rolling in the first, so for him to defer like that and get us going in the first place, that's the kind of thing that wins championships."

The Lightning are back on home court tomorrow night against the Niagara River Lions for a seven P.M. tip off. Fans attending the game are asked to bring a pair of gently used shoes to be donated to Cleats for Kids. Tickets are available at www.lightningbasketball.ca or the Budweiser Gardens Box Office.
