Lightning Host River Lions in Last Game of 2017

Lightning Host River Lions in Last Game of 2017

The London Lightning (6-5) are back on the court tonight for their last game of 2017 as they host the Niagara River Lions (7-6) at seven P.M. at Budweiser Gardens in London.

The Lightning are fresh off a big 129-106 win over the Windsor Express last night and look to extend their winning streak to five games. Six players scored in double figures, three of them recording double-doubles. Kyle Johnson lead all scorers with 30 points and six rebounds and Royce White added 25 points with 11 assists and three rebounds. The River Lions have lost two in a row, including a 118-109 loss to the Lightning a week ago.

The Lightning have picked up their tempo and clicked as a team. Head coach, Keith Vassell, would like the strong team play to continue. "We have been able to push the tempo and create a lot of opportunities that the other teams haven't been able to handle that well. There was extra confidence in their game last night, which is great to see." Look for the Lightning to continue to use their speed and fast break tonight against the River Lions. The newest additions, Johnson and Doug Herring Jr. are key reasons why that quicker tempo is so effective; Herring Jr. pushes the floor and if the defence is too focused on the inside, shooters, Johnson and Ryan Anderson, are ready outside the arch.

Fans attending the game tonight are asked to bring gently used shoes of all size and styles to be donated to Cleats for Kids who make sure all youth have the proper shoes to participate in activities. Donations will be collected on the concourse. Tickets are still available at the Budweiser Gardens Box Office or under the 'Tickets' tab on our website. Doors open at six P.M., tip-off is set for seven P.M. You can also watch live here.
