Lightning End 2017 on Five Game Win Streak

Saturday, December 30, 2017 (London, ON) – The London Lightning end 2017 on a high note with a 119-102 win over the Niagara River Lions.

The Lightning have clicked as a team, and head coach, Keith Vassell likes what he sees. "We are beating good teams. I thought that our defence was good, we have some lapses still but overall, we put on a lot of pressure and made it difficult for them to do certain things. On the offensive end we shot the ball well. Ryan came out on fire, he kept hitting big shots for us - he had nine threes. We are playing well as a team – we had 38 assists on 45 field goals, that's a lot. We are moving the ball well, we are just grooving."

Ryan Anderson came out of the gates hot, scoring 14 of his 31 points in the first quarter. Anderson calls it shooters beef, "Some guys say some things about being better shooters than other guys… so I wanted to come out here and make a statement, that's motivation for me. But as a team I think that was a great collective effort. We are really starting to get into a groove, you can see it and feel the energy, it's good vibes.".

It was another well-rounded performance from the Lightning, Anderson finished with 31 points, five rebounds, three assists and three steals. Garrett Williamson and Royce White both filled the stat sheet. Williamson recorded 21 points, seven rebounds, and six assists while White added 21 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. In his second game with the bolts Doug Herring Jr. quietly recorded a double-double with 10 points, 11 assists and five rebounds.

The London Lightning hit the road to Niagara on Wednesday, January 3rd before returning to London for a five-game home stand beginning Friday, January 5th at seven PM against the KW Titans.
