Lightning Win Overtime Battle with the Titans

Lightning Win Overtime Battle with the Titans

Friday, January 5, 2018 (London, ON) – The London Lightning and KW Titans needed overtime to decide a winner on Friday night. The Lightning came away with a 115-106 win and extend their winning streak to seven games.

Head Coach, Keith Vassell, knows there is always room for improvement. "I am pleased with what we are but we keep working on getting better."

Mo Bolden made his regular season debut in black and gold tonight after breaking his finger early in the season. Coach Vassell knows Bolden can make an impact at both ends of the floor. "Mo was huge in the third, Mo was huge in overtime too. [Derek] Hall was giving us a lot of problems and so were their guards. When Mo came back in we neutralized Halls effectiveness. In the third quarter Mo played with a lot of energy, he played on the wings like he is a wing player at 6'10 and then he was rebounding and getting blocked shots like a centre. He's a fantastic addition and I am very happy he came at the right time." Bolden finished the game shooting 50% from the field leading to 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

Bolden is happy to help his teammates however they need him. "I'm just happy to be able to help the team on the defensive end more then the offensive end. We got a long way to go, I have a long way to go, I have a lot of things I need to learn to help these guys. I am always coming in with a defensive mind set, on offense whatever happens happens."

Royce White had a big night for the Lighting pouring in 37 points along with eight assists, seven rebounds and two blocks. Garrett Williamson and Doug Herring Jr. added 14 a piece.

The Lightning trailed at the half 37-50 but came back in the third outscoring KW 31-18 to take a one-point lead heading into the fourth. For the second game in a row the Lightning went to overtime and once again dominated the extra frame to seal the win.

The London Lightning host the Niagara River Lions at Budweiser Gardens this Sunday, January 7th. Doors open at 1 PM with tip-off at 2 PM. Tickets are available at www.lightningbasketball.ca or the Budweiser Gardens Box Office.
