Lightning Clinch Central Division Title

Thursday, March 28, 2018 (LONDON, ON) –  The London Lightning have clinched the regular season Central Division Title with a 123 – 110 win over the Windsor Express. This secures home court advantage for the Lightning for the first two rounds of the playoffs.

Head coach, Keith Vassell, knows today was an important win, "I'm happy we clinched it today. Now we refocus for Sunday, our last regular season game and then get ready for playoff basketball." Although they came out with a win there is room from improvement. "I think you can always do better. And now we have to be better… in the playoffs we play a team back to back to back games and they are going to make adjustments. We can always be better."

Royce White lead all scorers with 31 points along with ten rebounds. Mo Bolden had another stellar game dropping 18 points while shooting 50% from the three-point line (four of eight) along with seven rebounds. Doug Herring Jr. chipped in 15 points, seven rebounds and six assists.

Garrett Williamson only needed to score six points to become the first Canadian in NBL history to score 2,000 points. Williamson, a duel-citizen Canadian, dropped 12 points to break the 2,000 mark. "I didn't think it was going to take me three quarters to score six points… I didn't feel like I found my rhythm tonight but I stuck with it, I knew I needed six points. When we win as a team I know the personal accolades will come." The always humble Williamson is happy to be in the record books but knows there are other things to focus on at the moment. "Home court is big for us in the playoffs, we just have to stay focused on the task at hand. We are getting better everyday. We are putting full games together and beating teams how we should and we keep building from here."

The last London Lightning home game of the regular season is this Sunday, April 1 at two P.M. against the Island Storm. This is the rescheduled February 8 game, tickets from February 8 are valid for this game.  Tickets are available at www.lightningbasketball.ca or the Budweiser Gardens Box Office.
