Lightning Come Back Too Late, Fall to Edge

Lightning Come Back Too Late, Fall to Edge

Thursday, April 19, 2018 (LONDON, ON) –  The London Lightning came back from 23 points but it was not enough. The Edge tied the best-of-seven-series at one game each with a 112 – 104 victory over the Lightning.

Head coach, Keith Vassell, tried different adjustments through the game but the shots just wouldn't fall. "They made the shots early and we weren't finishing. I didn't think it was their defense, the ball just wouldn't go in early. We were playing catch up for an entire game. We missed 12 free throws… we made a concerted effort to get into the paint, but it was a game that was hard fought and they made the plays they needed to, to finish the game. Yeah, we were frustrated."

Royce White lead all scorers with 29 along with nine rebounds and six assists. Garrett Williamson had another strong game, impacting all ends of the floor. He finished with 22 points and eight rebounds. Mo Bolden notched a double-double with 20 points and ten rebounds.

Focus and mental toughness was a key part of Tuesday night's double overtime win but Bolden and the team feel it was missing tonight. "We need to do better all around. These games are going to be tough. We need to stay together mentally, don't worry about nothing else that is going on. Individually we need to lock in more on defense and come up with the rebounds – they got some key rebounds we should have cleaned up…. It was a tough game, they came out with it. We need to be stronger mentally, we know they have good crowds, they are going to be prepared. We have to go out there with better mental focus."

The Central Division Finals move to the east coast for games three, four and five. Game three is Saturday, April 21 at 5:30 P.M. EST. To follow along, watch live and for all playoff updates stay tuned to London Lightning on Facebook, Twitter and www.lightningbasketball.ca.
