Lightning Advance to NBL Finals

Sunday, April 29, 2018 (London, ONTARIO) – The London Lightning advance to the NBL-C Finals with a 106-101 win over the St. John's Edge in game six of the Central Division Finals.

It has been a busy week for the Lightning and head coach, Keith Vassell, is happy that the team stepped up as a whole to finish the series. "I thought we really stepped up today, we played the game from beginning to end to win. The energy and the fight that we had was there for the full 48 minutes. These guys are champions for a reason; most of them were here for last year's win and they are champions because they want to win. Regardless of whatever is happening they will lock in, they have shown it all season. I truly believe we have a very good chance to win a championship."

Julian Boyd moved to the starting line up and put together a solid game this afternoon with 14 points and five assists. "As a basketball player you always want to play, but we have a great team, starters to bench, there is no drop off so yeah, sometimes you don't get a lot of minutes... but I have always been prepared to play more and I am ready to do what I gotta do, I am ready to step up. We are a mentally strong team, we stay locked in because we all have the same end goal to win a championship; we want to win."

Garrett Williamson lead the Bolts with 25 points, ten rebounds and seven assists.  Kirk Williams Jr. was strong off the bench adding 17 points. Ryan Anderson was all over for the Lightning with 16 points, eight rebounds and nine assists, while Mo Bolden chipped in 14 points.

The Lightning will now face the Halifax Hurricanes in the NBL Finals. Halifax finished first overall and will therefore have home court advantage for games one, two, six and seven of the series. Games three, four and five will be played in London. Stay tuned towww.lightningbasketball.ca and all London Lightning social media channels for the full schedule.
