Lightning Even NBL Finals Series at Two

Lightning Even NBL Finals Series at Two

Saturday, May 12, 2018 (LONDON, ON) –  The London Lightning have tied the best-of-seven NBL Finals at 2-2 with a 122-114 win in overtime over the Halifax Hurricanes.

Head coach, Keith Vassell, is happy with how the team has bounced back after being down 0-2 in the series. "I have always said, we have fighters, we have guys that are going to go hard and give everything we have under the leadership of Garrett, he's really stepped up. Mo too, he was wonderful today, he took advantage of every opportunity that he had. It was a gritty game and it was a situation where we stayed focused and we tried to create opportunities and we were able to score."

Mo Bolden lead all scorers with 38 points and pulled down 11 rebounds along with three assists, two steals and two blocks. "I can shoot the ball, I can do everything; it was just me having my mind made up. Coach is always telling me to be assertive. Last game I feel like I kinda let my team down, it was the first shot of game I think Kirk hit me, game three, I was wide open and I stepped out of bounds and Kirk yelled 'shoot the ball' so after that I thought, if I am going to help my team I have to do what I can do, do what I am good at and that is shoot the basketball."

Julian Boyd had another strong game with 24 points and 14 rebounds. Garrett Williamson had his usual game of filling the stat sheet – he was one rebound away from a triple double; 23 points, 13 assists and nine rebounds.

Game five of the series is set for this Monday, May 14 at 7:00 P.M at Budweiser Gardens. This will be the last London Lightning home game of the season, as the NBL Finals will return to Halifax for games six and if necessary, seven on Thursday and Friday next week. Tickets for Mondays game are available at the Budweiser Gardens Box office or www.lightningbasketball.ca.
