FCFP Pre-Game Inspection: Feb 1 at Highlanders

1: Highlanders running high

The Lightning continue their road trip in Cape Breton tonight, taking on the Highlanders at 6 PM EST. The last match-up between these 2 teams came in London on January 10th where the game went to overtime and the Bolts ended up losing 129 to 122. The Lightning struggled from the free throw line and from 3 point range; only shooting 19 for 30 (63.3%) from the stripe and 11 for 35 (31.4%) from deep. Look for the team to get to the basket more as that has been common occurance in the past couple games. Hopefully this will bring them more scoring and a chance to redeem themselves at the foul line. The Highlanders have been running well so far this season having the 2nd most wins in the league, but they have stumbled recently losing 2 straight so there could be an opening for the Lightning to take advantage of if they can capitalize on their opportunities.

2: Strong Team Effort

The Lightning in their most recent outing, lost to the Moncton Magic but showed a lot of resiliency, coming back against adversity and putting themselves in the game when it looked like they were down for the count. The scoring effort was well spread out, with 7 players scoring over 10 points for the game. If they can continiue this moving forward in will keep the team balanced and make the opposing defenses have to be more worried about everyone on the court at all times. The Bolts have been a strong defensive team all season, switching well and challenging strong offensive players. 2 big players the Lightning will need to watch from the Cape are Bruce Massey and Jamal Reynolds. Look for the guard matchups on the Lightning side to stay strong to them all game in order to keep them limited on the offensive side.
