FCFP Pre-Game Inspection: April 9th Playoff Round 1 Game 2 vs. KW Titans

FCFP Pre-Game Inspection: April 9th Playoff Round 1 Game 2 vs. KW Titans

1: Game 1 Down, Game 2 is Up

The finish to Game 1 in this series showed a much bigger lead than what was happening through most of the game. The Lightning were ahead after the first and second quarter and were only down by two after the third. The second half is where the Titans took off and where the Lightning hit a wall. KW flipped the script from three, shooting 1-18 in the first half and going on to shoot 11 of 16 in the second half. Overall the Titans shot 56% in the second half. The Lightning did not fare as well, shooting 37% from the field, 3 of 13 from three for 23% and 0 of 5 from three in the fourth quarter. The London defence could not keep up with their shooters and could not get any momentum going on the offensive side. Big players for the Titans that took advantage of the Lightning's lack of energy on defence was Akeem Ellis, Ed Horton, and Flen Whitford, all tallying more than 20 points on efficient shooting. London will need to bring out more energy tonight to keep their shooters from making threes and getting easy buckets in the paint.

2: Energy Burst Needed

The Lightning as we mentioned above really struggled on offence. They shot just under 40% from the field and 19% from three, each total for the game them which included only hitting four threes for the game. Two players did their best to keep the Lightning in it, and they were AJ Gaines and Garrett Williamson. AJ played a lot of minutes off the bench, tallying 34 total. During his time on the court, he shot 7-17 from the field for 18 points, knocking down a three as well. He did a lot of work on the boards grabbing 11 for the game including three on the offensive end. Garrett Williamson was leaned on heavily for the whole game playing 39 minutes. He was the only player on the Bolts to score more than 20 points, finishing with 22, on good efficiency, shooting 8 of 15 from the field. The Lightning will need all hands on deck tonight to give the team more energy on both sides of the ball as well prevent them from being down 0-2 in the series.
