London Lightning Ignite Defense in 133-122 Victory Over Sudbury 5

London Lightning Ignite Defense in 133-122 Victory Over Sudbury 5

The London Lightning put on a defensive showcase Wednesday night, securing a high-energy 133-122 win over the Sudbury 5 at Canada Life Place. After a season full of roster changes and adjustments, the team appears to have finally found its stride, delivering a well-balanced and dominant performance that has fans buzzing with excitement.

London’s frontcourt set the tone early, with James Towns and Handy each recording back-to-back double-doubles, proving to be a formidable force on both ends of the court. Veteran leader Billy White added his signature scoring punch, dropping 26 points and controlling the paint with his physical presence. Meanwhile, Marcus Ottey contributed 21 points, attacking the basket with his usual speed and precision.

But the biggest story of the night was the electrifying performance of Scottie Lewis. The newest addition to the Lightning roster wasted no time making his mark, exploding for 30 points while going a flawless 6-for-6 from three-point range. His lights-out shooting and high-energy play injected a new spark into the team, leaving many to wonder—could this be the missing piece to reignite the Lightning’s championship ambitions?

“We’re starting to come together at the right time,” said head coach Jerry Williams after the game. “It takes time to build chemistry, and now we’re seeing guys step into their roles and trust each other. Scottie was outstanding tonight, but the credit goes to the entire team for playing unselfish basketball.”

With the victory, the Lightning continue to climb the standings, proving they are once again a force to be reckoned with in the BSL championship race. The team will look to keep the momentum rolling with back-to-back home games on March 12 and 13 at 7 PM at Canada Life Place. Fans won’t want to miss the action as the Lightning look to extend their winning streak and solidify themselves as title contenders.
